Bacon explores the art of hand gestures, particularly in relation to effective public oratory – all complete with a system of notation and many practise examples with which to hone one’s skills. As Bacon states in the preface: “Agreeable sounds and harmonious action — one addressing the ear, and the other the eye — combine to perfect the orator.”
